Steamboat Springs School District RE-2 is hiring a full-time Thescon/Drama Sponsor at Steamboat Springs High School to lead and champion the theatre program for student performers and aspiring stage technicians.
About the Role
As the Thescon/Drama Sponsor, you will guide Steamboat Springs High School's drama and Thespian Society (Thescon) activities, mentoring students through productions, competitions, and creative skill-building. This is an on-site, full-time activity sponsor position based in the United States, with a stipend paid across the season.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize, supervise, and inspire the high school drama program and Thespian (Thescon) activities throughout the season.
- Mentor students in acting, stagecraft, and theatrical production from rehearsal through performance.
- Prepare participants for Thespian conferences, showcases, and related competitive events.
- Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and supervision of student activities in partnership with school staff.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that supports student growth, teamwork, and confidence.
Qualifications
- Genuine enthusiasm for theatre arts and working with high school students.
- Background or experience in drama, performing arts, or activity sponsorship preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and mentoring abilities.
- Availability to commit to the full activity season on-site at Steamboat Springs High School.
- Ability to meet the school district's standard requirements for student activity sponsors.
Compensation
This position is compensated as a season-long stipend. The entry-level stipend range is $919.00 to $1,251.00, dependent on experience (DOE). For sponsor guidelines and further details, candidates should contact the school's Athletic Director.
