Tax Senior, Global Trade – Classification

Deloitte is seeking a Tax Senior, Global Trade – Classification to join its Pittsburgh office in Allegheny County. In this full-time role, you'll deliver expert guidance on tariff classification, trade compliance, and cross-border supply chain strategy to Fortune 500 and mid-market enterprises navigating an increasingly complex global trade environment.

About the Role

As a Tax Senior in Global Trade Classification, you'll combine technical expertise with strategic client advisory to help organizations optimize their trade posture, minimize tariff exposure, and ensure compliance with evolving regulations. You'll work directly with multinational clients across industries—manufacturing, technology, consumer goods, and beyond—translating complex trade law into actionable business recommendations. This is a hands-on role where you'll balance deep technical analysis with relationship management and thought leadership.

What You'll Do

• Conduct comprehensive tariff classification studies and feasibility analyses on products and supply chain configurations
• Advise clients on Harmonized System (HS) code assignments, country-of-origin determinations, and trade agreement utilization strategies
• Identify tariff optimization opportunities and quantify potential duty savings and supply chain efficiencies
• Develop and document classification methodologies and support ruling requests and customs disputes
• Manage client relationships, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and mentor junior staff on trade classification principles
• Stay current on tariff changes, trade policy updates, and regulatory developments affecting client operations

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, or related discipline
• 5+ years of experience in tariff classification, international trade, customs, or trade compliance roles
• In-depth knowledge of Harmonized System (HS) codes and US International Trade Commission resources
• Strong understanding of trade regulations, tariff engineering, and supply chain optimization
• CPA, or substantial progress toward CPA certification, strongly preferred
• Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
• Ability to synthesize technical analysis into clear, actionable client recommendations
