About the Role

This role is focused on providing peer support to individuals at Springhill Prison who are dealing with alcohol and other drug issues. The Tauwhiro Waranga will work closely with clients to help them navigate their recovery journey, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical assistance.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and group support sessions for prisoners dealing with substance abuse issues.
• Facilitate workshops and educational programs aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and coping mechanisms.
• Build strong relationships with clients to understand their unique needs and challenges, and tailor support accordingly.
• Collaborate with other professionals within the prison system to ensure a holistic approach to client care.

What You Bring

• A proven track record in peer support or related field.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• The ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• A deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals dealing with substance abuse issues within a prison setting.
