Sr. Staff IT Architect – AI Architect (HRIT)

ThermoFisher Scientific is seeking a Sr. Staff IT Architect - AI Architect (HRIT) for our Pittsburgh, Allegheny County location. In this full-time role, you'll architect and lead AI-driven solutions that transform how our global organization manages human capital and HR operations.

About the Role

As a Senior Staff IT Architect focused on AI and Human Resources Information Technology, you'll shape the technical strategy and implementation of intelligent systems that power HR processes at enterprise scale. You'll work with HR leadership, technology teams, and business stakeholders to design scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that modernize people operations and unlock business value through artificial intelligence.

What You'll Do

• Define and evolve the technical architecture for AI-powered HRIT solutions and platforms
• Lead design and implementation of machine learning, predictive analytics, and automation initiatives within HR systems
• Partner with Human Resources and IT leadership to translate business needs into technical roadmaps and solutions
• Establish best practices for data governance, security, and compliance in AI-driven HR applications
• Mentor and guide engineering teams on architecture decisions, design patterns, and technical excellence
• Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their fit for HR transformation initiatives
• Drive cross-functional collaboration between HR, IT, Security, and Data teams

What We're Looking For

• 15+ years of IT architecture and systems design experience, with 5+ years in AI/ML systems or advanced analytics
• Deep expertise in enterprise HR systems, HRIT platforms, or workforce technologies
• Proven track record architecting large-scale, mission-critical applications
• Strong understanding of machine learning frameworks, data pipelines, and analytics platforms
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, API design, and modern software architecture patterns
• Excellent communication and ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
