Telephone & Data Systems is hiring a Sr Safety Administrator for our Meridian, Ada County operations. In this full-time, onsite role, you'll lead safety operations for our fiber telecom construction initiatives across Idaho, ensuring every project meets or exceeds OSHA standards and our zero-incident vision.
About the Role
As a senior safety leader in telecom construction, you'll develop and enforce safety protocols, lead field training, conduct site audits, and guide our teams through complex construction activities—from fiber trenching to pole work to equipment deployment. You'll report to our Regional Operations Director, work directly with project managers and contractors, and embed safety-first practices into every phase of our network expansion. Your expertise will protect our workforce while enabling faster, safer project execution in Meridian and surrounding markets.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement comprehensive safety programs specific to telecom construction activities and equipment
- Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections, incident investigations, and near-miss analyses; document findings and recommend corrective actions
- Lead safety training for crews, supervisors, and new hires on hazard recognition, OSHA standards, and company protocols
- Maintain safety records, reporting systems, and metrics; prepare trend analysis for leadership
- Integrate safety requirements into project schedules and budgets
- Stay current with telecom construction safety regulations and industry best practices
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of safety administration in construction, telecom, or utility infrastructure
- OSHA 30-hour certification (or willingness to obtain); CHST, CSP, or equivalent credential preferred
- Strong knowledge of telecom construction hazards and regulatory requirements
- Experience developing and delivering safety training to diverse audiences
- Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work on active construction sites and conduct physical walkthroughs
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
