About the Role
As a Senior Data Engineer at SHI, you'll architect and develop scalable data systems that support our global technology platform. This full-time position is based in Providence and offers the opportunity to lead technical initiatives, work with modern data technologies, and mentor junior engineers on your team.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement robust data pipelines and ETL processes that handle large-scale datasets
- Develop database schemas, optimize query performance, and ensure data quality across systems
- Collaborate with analytics, product, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Lead best practices for data architecture, security, and governance
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues in production environments
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team technical growth
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, or Java and distributed data processing frameworks
- Experience designing and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and warehouse solutions
- Solid understanding of cloud platforms, databases, and data warehousing concepts
- Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews
- Strong communication skills and experience working collaboratively across technical and business teams
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
