About the Role
As a Software Engineer - Test Automation at Specter, you'll design and implement comprehensive testing frameworks for our AI-driven video sensor platform. You'll work across the full stack—from low-level sensor integration and video processing to high-level AI inference—ensuring our systems reliably detect and interpret physical activity in any environment. This is a full-time position based in our San Francisco office, where you'll collaborate directly with product, ML, and platform engineers to maintain the quality and performance standards our customers depend on.
What You'll Do
- Develop automated test suites for video processing pipelines, AI model inference, and sensor data integration
- Create and maintain testing infrastructure for validating detection accuracy across diverse physical environments and conditions
- Build end-to-end tests for security and safety monitoring features, including perimeter detection, threat identification, and personnel safety compliance
- Collaborate with ML engineers to establish testing protocols for model performance and edge-case handling
- Design regression testing strategies to catch regressions before they reach production
- Contribute to improving testing tooling, frameworks, and automation processes
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience building test automation frameworks and writing automated tests at scale
- Solid understanding of software testing principles, testing patterns, and quality assurance best practices
- Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used for test automation
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test infrastructure
- Ability to work with complex systems and think critically about edge cases
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Interest in AI, computer vision, or sensor systems is a plus
