Senior Transmission Line Engineer

Leidos is hiring a Senior Transmission Line Engineer for our Energy & Utilities division, based in Garfield Heights, Cuyahoga County. This full-time role offers the opportunity to lead the planning and engineering of critical high-voltage transmission infrastructure while building and mentoring a technical team.

About the Role

As a Senior Transmission Line Engineer at Leidos, you'll take ownership of transmission line design projects from conception through completion. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design and engineering of high-voltage transmission lines to meet utility and regulatory requirements
• Developing technical calculations, detailed drawings, and comprehensive specifications for transmission systems
• Ensuring all designs comply with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and applicable utility standards
• Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams including project managers, environmental specialists, and construction professionals
• Mentoring and developing junior engineers on transmission line engineering best practices and technical excellence
• Reviewing technical work products, quality-assurance calculations, and design deliverables
• Communicating project status, technical findings, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders

What We're Looking For

You'll bring a strong technical foundation and proven experience in transmission line engineering:

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in electrical engineering or a related discipline
• 5+ years of direct experience designing transmission lines or substations
• Deep knowledge of NESC standards, utility specifications, and electrical design codes
• Proficiency with transmission line design software and engineering tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Leadership experience and demonstrated commitment to mentoring technical teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Experience managing complex projects and multiple concurrent deliverables
