Senior Software Engineer, Network Platform

Moonlite is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Network Platform to design, build, and optimize the network infrastructure powering our AI computing platform in Chicago, Cook County. As a full-time member of our platform engineering team, you'll architect resilient, high-throughput network systems that enable seamless distributed compute across on-premises and cloud environments.

About the Role

You'll lead the technical direction of Moonlite's network platform, ensuring reliable connectivity and optimal performance for customers running intensive computational research, large-scale model training, and data processing workloads. Your work will directly impact how thousands of organizations access flexible, on-demand compute infrastructure that integrates seamlessly with their existing data centers.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement network architecture for distributed computing environments supporting multi-gigabit throughput and low-latency communication
• Optimize network performance, reliability, and scalability across on-premises and hybrid cloud deployments
• Build automation and tooling to simplify network operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting at scale
• Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, and systems teams to identify and resolve network-related bottlenecks
• Establish network standards, best practices, and documentation to support team growth and operational excellence
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical culture of our platform engineering team

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated expertise in network systems or infrastructure engineering
• Strong proficiency in systems-level programming, networking protocols, and network architecture design
• Proven experience building or scaling production systems in on-premises or cloud environments
• Experience with network monitoring, diagnostics, and optimization at scale
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to design solutions that balance performance, reliability, and operational simplicity
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively across teams
