Senior Scientist, Translational Sciences

HAYA Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Scientist, Translational Sciences to join our San Diego, San Diego County office in a full-time capacity. This role carries a salary of $130,000–$150,000 annually and offers the opportunity to drive innovation in RNA-guided genome-targeting therapies designed to treat fibrosis, heart failure, and chronic diseases associated with aging.

About the Role

In this Senior Scientist position, you will lead translational research efforts bridging laboratory discovery and clinical application. You'll leverage our proprietary platform built on long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs)—key regulatory elements within the genome's functional frontier—to advance first-in-class therapeutic candidates. Your work will directly shape how we translate foundational molecular science into transformative medicines.

What You'll Do

• Design and execute research programs evaluating the efficacy, safety, and mechanism of our RNA-guided genome-targeting platform
• Develop and optimize assays and disease models to support translational advancement of lead programs
• Conduct mechanistic studies exploring long non-coding RNA biology and therapeutic potential
• Collaborate across chemistry, molecular biology, and clinical teams to inform program strategy and regulatory pathway decisions
• Prepare comprehensive data packages and scientific findings for regulatory submissions and peer-reviewed publication
• Contribute to translational science strategy and make recommendations for program prioritization

What We're Looking For

• Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, or related discipline
• 5+ years of hands-on research experience in drug development, translational sciences, or biotech
• Demonstrated expertise in RNA biology, molecular therapeutics, or genome-targeting technologies
• Strong project ownership, with proven ability to design rigorous studies and manage complex research programs
• Experience with translational research design, preclinical efficacy and safety evaluation, and regulatory considerations
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and scientific reporting
• Self-directed approach to problem-solving in a dynamic, innovation-focused environment
