Senior Manager, Security & IT Operations

Automox is hiring a Senior Manager, Security & IT Operations to lead our combined Security and IT Operations practices in a fully remote, US-based role. About the Role

Reporting directly to the CTO, you will run our Security and IT Operations teams day to day while setting and delivering a 6–12 month roadmap. Security here covers corporate security (CorpSec), product security (ProdSec), and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). You will own the IT and Security budget, support on-call coverage, lead incident response, and guide a team of seven direct reports as the organization continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate security priorities into a roadmap with defined milestones, owners, and metrics, and treat SOC 2 as a continuous discipline.
• Drive the ProdSec program alongside Engineering and Product, embedding security throughout the development lifecycle.
• Lead incident response end to end: runbooks, escalation paths, and post-incident reviews that sharpen future response.
• Shape strategy for endpoints, identity, and SaaS at scale, including MDM, patch compliance through Automox, hardware lifecycle, and zero-touch provisioning across macOS and Windows.
• Own the IAM program — provisioning, group design, MFA, and access reviews — and administer core SaaS across collaboration, source control, secrets management, and cloud.
• Automate recurring work with AI coding tools, keeping it documented and measured, and track KPIs spanning ticket responsiveness, coverage, access reviews, and IT spend.
• Develop engineers and helpdesk staff, build clear career paths, and foster a culture of ownership and psychological safety.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in security engineering or operations with hands-on IT operations responsibility, plus 3+ years managing people.
• Proven SOC 2 experience and hands-on incident management, with a record of turning strategy into measurable results.
• Hands-on with a modern IdP, MDM for macOS and Windows, collaboration and source control administration, cloud IAM, and working Linux skills.
• Effective use of AI coding tools, with enough fluency in PowerShell, bash, and Python to review output for correctness and security.
• Strong judgment on architectural trade-offs and the credibility to lead difficult technical and leadership conversations directly.
