Calm.com is hiring a Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager to power the retention engine behind one of the world's most loved mental health apps. This full-time role is open across San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; and Minneapolis, MN, and is available as a US remote position.
About the Role
As a senior individual contributor on Calm's Product & Retention Marketing team, you'll own and run the lifecycle marketing program across email, push notifications, and in-app messaging. Working with high autonomy and a dotted-line partnership to the Lifecycle Marketing Technical Lead, you'll turn strategy into production-ready campaigns and shape how millions of users onboard, build habits, convert to subscriptions, and return after lapsing — all while influencing partners across Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Creative without direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Own lifecycle strategy end to end across email, push, and in-app messaging to drive onboarding, habit formation, subscription conversion, and win-backs.
- Use behavioral data to power audience segmentation, personalization, and dynamic content that lift engagement and curb churn.
- Run a disciplined A/B testing and experimentation roadmap spanning copy, creative, layout, send timing, and frequency.
- Architect, audit, and rebuild complex multi-branch workflows in Iterable, owning the master routing logic across triggered, transactional, and scheduled campaigns.
- Partner with Data Science and Product to build user cohorts and launch automated, event-driven trigger campaigns.
- Safeguard email deliverability, IP reputation, and push opt-in rates through rigorous QA and compliant operations.
- Report on lifecycle KPIs — open rates, CTR, DAU/MAU, retention curves, and LTV — translating findings into growth strategy for leadership.
- Collaborate with Finance on revenue forecasting by campaign category, including reforecast cycles and clear attribution methodology.
- Maintain documentation, QA standards, launch checklists, and naming conventions so the function runs predictably.
Qualifications
- Proven success building, scaling, and optimizing lifecycle and retention programs for a B2C app or subscription business.
- Strong record of operating independently and influencing cross-functional teams, including close work with a technical counterpart.
- Exceptional analytical ability to interpret complex datasets, map user journeys, and surface insights that move metrics.
- Hands-on depth in Iterable or a comparable enterprise marketing automation platform, covering workflow architecture, segmentation, and test setup.
- An AI-first mindset and comfort thriving in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
