Senior Backend Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and scale the backend systems behind Golf Rival.

THE DIFFERENCE YOU’LL MAKE:

• You’ll join our Golf Rival game team, working with experienced game developers who have a high degree of ownership and autonomy over their work. Together, you’ll design and evolve reliable, high-performance services that power gameplay and live features used by a global player base.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Work hands-on on the core gameplay experience by designing and evolving reliable, high-performance services that power Golf Rival for millions of players worldwide.
• Own the feature lifecycle from concept and technical design to fast-paced deployment, translating game designs into high-quality, scalable backend systems.
• Proactively solve performance and reliability challenges to ensure a seamless experience for our game community.
• Influence both technical solutions and gameplay-related decisions, taking deep ownership of new features while continuously mastering new technologies.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH:

• You’ll work cross-functionally with other Backend Engineers, Client Engineers, Data Scientists, Product Managers and Game Designers to build and evolve game features used by millions of players.

WE ARE A MATCH IF YOU:

• Have 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably with server application development
• Have strong experience with at least one general-purpose programming language (Java, C#, C/C++, Python, Go, or similar)
• Studied Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Have knowledge of SQL, preferably PostgreSQL
• Are motivated self-learner who enjoys diving deep and contributing across different technical aspects of game development
• Are passionate about gaming, not just software development

BONUS POINTS:

• Experience with Spring / Spring Boot
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar
