Role Overview
As a Security Incident Manager at Nexcess in this remote United States role, you will direct the full lifecycle of security events while aligning response efforts with organizational priorities. This full-time position emphasizes structured decision-making, cross-functional coordination, and continuous readiness so that every incident is resolved with clarity and measurable outcomes.
Your Responsibilities
- Oversee intake, triage, containment, eradication, and recovery of security incidents from first alert through final closure
- Coordinate technical specialists, legal, communications, and operations groups during active events to maintain clear ownership and timely action
- Create, test, and update incident response playbooks that cover common and high-impact threat scenarios
- Lead after-action reviews, document root causes, and drive remediation measures that reduce recurrence risk
- Produce executive-level summaries that track volume, severity, dwell time, and residual risk for leadership visibility
- Advise on proactive controls and detection improvements based on emerging threat patterns observed in the wild
Who We're Looking For
- Hands-on background leading enterprise security incident response programs
- Deep familiarity with common attack techniques, digital forensics basics, and SIEM or SOAR tooling
- Demonstrated skill coordinating multi-team efforts under time pressure while keeping stakeholders informed
- Working knowledge of relevant frameworks such as NIST or ISO incident-handling guidance
- Excellent written and verbal communication suited to both technical audiences and senior leaders
- Self-directed work style that thrives in a fully remote United States setting with asynchronous collaboration
