About the Role
As a Reserving Actuary with Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies' Workers Compensation Division, you'll take ownership of our loss reserve strategy and analysis. This full-time position offers the opportunity to drive decision-making through rigorous actuarial analysis and provide critical financial insights that shape our organization's reserve management approach.
What You'll Do
- Oversee quarterly analysis and evaluation of loss and loss adjustment expense reserves
- Prepare and deliver reserve analysis data to the Finance Department for external financial reporting
- Conduct research into key drivers influencing reserve adequacy and performance
- Apply actuarial expertise to inform reserve strategy and risk assessment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and alignment in financial reporting
What We're Looking For
- Strong foundation in actuarial analysis, statistical modeling, and reserve methodology
- Experience analyzing loss and loss adjustment expense data in an insurance environment
- Proficiency with actuarial software, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools
- Ability to communicate complex actuarial findings clearly to financial and non-technical audiences
- Detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of workers compensation insurance or related insurance lines a plus
