Humana is hiring a Provider Contracting Professional (Dental Network) in the United States for a full-time position. You'll build and manage dental network relationships through strategic contract negotiation, direct provider engagement, and financial analysis that strengthens Humana's dental care delivery while supporting thousands of member outcomes.
What This Role Involves
This position centers on developing, executing, and managing dental provider agreements that form the foundation of Humana's network. You'll work directly with dental practices nationwide, translating contract structures, reimbursement models, and payment frameworks into terms that make sense to practice owners and administrators. Your analysis will demonstrate how specific contract terms create mutual value, and you'll support network expansion by identifying market gaps, reaching out to prospective providers, and exploring partnership opportunities with local dental societies and professional organizations.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop, negotiate, and execute dental provider agreements aligned with Humana's organizational strategy and compliance requirements
- Communicate contract terms, reimbursement rates, and payment structures clearly to dental providers, addressing questions and concerns with expertise
- Assess financial implications of proposed contract terms and rates to ensure value delivery across Humana's customer base
- Organize and maintain contract documentation and provider records within company systems for easy access and audit readiness
- Conduct in-person meetings with dental practices and participate in community engagement activities, typically traveling up to 20% of your time
- Identify qualified providers who strengthen Humana's dental network in assigned regions and support recruitment initiatives
- Collaborate with internal teams to align contracting strategy with departmental and organizational objectives
What We're Looking For
- 2 to 5 years of experience negotiating managed care contracts with healthcare providers such as physicians, hospitals, or other healthcare organizations
- Ability to analyze and explain complex financial contract terms, reimbursement models, and payment structures to diverse audiences
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence in both detailed negotiations and professional correspondence
- Track record of managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic work environment
- Working proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Valid state driver's license and personal vehicle liability insurance (required for field visits to provider locations)
- Bachelor's degree preferred; advanced degree is advantageous
- Prior experience with risk-based contracting, ACO structures, or value-based care models is highly valued
