More about the role:

Burson Malaysia is looking for a Public Relations Intern who is eager to learn and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced communications environment.

In this role, you will support our teams working on a diverse portfolio of local, regional, and global clients. You’ll be exposed to real client work across media relations, events, and digital communications, while building foundational skills in public relations.

This internship is designed to provide practical learning opportunities, mentorship, and exposure to industry best practices—including the evolving role of AI and data in communications.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist with research and information gathering to support client projects
  • Support the preparation of media materials and basic content drafting
  • Help maintain and update media lists and contact databases
  • Provide support for media outreach activities (with guidance from the team)
  • Assist in organising and coordinating events (media briefings, launches, internal events)
  • Support social media content updates and digital communication tasks
  • Help compile media monitoring reports and summaries
  • Collaborate with different team members and learn from ongoing client work

Experience that contributes to success:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Media, or a related field
  • Strong interest in communications, media, and storytelling
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and contribute in a team environment
  • Basic research and organisational skills
  • Interest in digital platforms and social media trends
  • Exposure (academic or personal) to using AI tools (e.g. generative AI for research or content drafting) is an advantage
  • Willingness to learn how to use AI responsibly to support content development, research, and insights
  • Ability to review and refine content (including AI-assisted output) to ensure clarity and accuracy
  • Curious mindset and openness to learning new technologies and tools
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks
