Build the skills for this role

Focus on a clean Class A CDL, solid DOT hours-of-service compliance, and comfort with hazmat-related loads and facility check-in processes. Owner-operators also need reliable equipment maintenance, fuel and cost tracking, and clear radio/app communication with dispatch. No certification package was supplied in the source data for cost guidance.

  • Walk through a sample pre-trip and how you handle defects before rolling.
  • Describe safe loading/securement for industrial or waste-related freight.
  • Explain how you manage HOS, weather, and facility wait times.
  • Ask about lanes, detention, equipment requirements, and owner-operator settlement terms.

Strong fit if you already run a Class A operation and want industrial environmental services freight rather than general retail/FTL. Clean Harbors’ scale and specialized waste network suit drivers who can follow strict site and compliance rules. Thin public employee-review data means culture fit should be confirmed directly with the recruiter.
