About the Role

As a Music Teacher with Paterson Public School District, you will design and deliver engaging music instruction aligned to state standards, foster a love of the performing arts, and support the academic and creative growth of high school students in Paterson, NJ. This is an on-site, full-time teaching position for an educator who thrives on collaboration and brings fresh, imaginative thinking to the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach music lessons that reflect the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) for Visual and Performing Arts.
• Engage and motivate high school students through dynamic, well-structured musical instruction.
• Use assessments and data analysis to guide instructional decisions and track student progress.
• Partner with fellow educators, staff, and the wider school community to support student success.
• Cultivate a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and individual expression.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Teacher of Music certificate.
• Working knowledge of the NJSLS for Visual and Performing Arts.
• Demonstrated experience teaching or working with high school students.
• Familiarity with assessment practices and using data to inform instruction.
• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• An original, out-of-the-box thinker with creativity and initiative.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and strong moral character.
