Military and Family Life Counselor – School

Magellan Health is hiring a Military and Family Life Counselor for school-based programs serving Fort Rucker, Alabama, Alabama. In this full-time role, you'll deliver vital mental health support to military-connected students, helping them thrive academically and emotionally.

About the Role

This Military and Family Life Counselor position focuses on student mental health and wellness within schools serving the Fort Rucker military community. You'll be a key resource for children and families navigating the unique challenges of military life, working directly in school settings to promote emotional resilience and academic success.

What You'll Do

• Deliver confidential counseling services to students on an individual and small-group basis
• Address behavioral, emotional, and social-emotional development needs in the school environment
• Partner with educators, administrators, and military family service providers
• Apply evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to child and adolescent populations
• Support families in accessing additional resources and mental health services when needed
• Contribute to a positive school climate that honors military family experiences

What We're Looking For

• Active independent licensure: LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor), LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), or equivalent state-recognized independent credential
• Clinical experience working with school-age children and adolescents
• Understanding of military family life and the impacts of deployment, relocation, and military culture
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
• Commitment to culturally responsive and trauma-informed practice
• Must be local to Fort Rucker and available to work in school settings
