This is a full-time position supporting our commitment to excellence in family medicine and preventive health for Central Kentucky.
About the Role
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) at Family Practice Associates of Lexington, you are the backbone of our diagnostic services. You'll perform clinical laboratory testing, manage specimens, operate and maintain specialized equipment, and ensure every result meets our strict accuracy and regulatory standards. Working in our busy primary care practice, you'll have direct patient interaction, contribute to fast-paced workflows, and take pride in the diagnostic precision that enables our physicians and nurse practitioners to deliver timely, informed care.
What You'll Do
- Perform accurate laboratory testing on patient specimens according to CLIA standards and facility protocols
- Collect blood samples via phlebotomy and handle specimen processing and storage
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and quality control systems
- Document results with precision and enter data into our electronic health record system
- Follow safety and infection control procedures to protect yourself, colleagues, and patients
- Communicate with clinical staff regarding test results and lab operations
- Support the efficiency and reliability of our diagnostic lab to enable fast patient care
What We're Looking For
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS-ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT-ASCP), or eligibility to obtain certification
- High school diploma or GED at minimum
- Proficiency in clinical laboratory testing techniques and safety protocols
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in every result
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced primary care environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable transportation and ability to work consistently as scheduled
