Mechanical Estimator

Gpac is hiring a Mechanical Estimator to join our commercial contracting team in Suwanee, Gwinnett County. This full-time position reports to our Preconstruction and Estimating Leadership and offers a competitive salary of $80,000 to $120,000 based on your experience.

What This Role Involves

You'll work as a critical member of Gpac's estimating operation, where you'll convert mechanical construction drawings and specifications into comprehensive, competitive cost proposals. For more than 20 years, Gpac has delivered complete mechanical contracting services across HVAC, refrigeration, chilled water systems, control systems, sheet metal fabrication, and full lifecycle mechanical services for commercial clients. Your estimates will drive project success, supporting our preconstruction leadership team in winning bids while maintaining profitability through accurate scope development and realistic pricing.

What You'll Do

• Develop detailed cost estimates from mechanical construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Prepare comprehensive bid proposals for commercial HVAC, refrigeration, chilled water, controls, and sheet metal scopes
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to validate estimates and identify construction feasibility
• Research current material and labor costs to maintain accurate pricing in line with market conditions
• Create and document takeoff packages and supporting materials for proposal submissions
• Contribute value engineering and risk assessment recommendations to preconstruction planning

Requirements

• Demonstrated progressive experience in mechanical estimating or related construction estimating roles
• Solid knowledge of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical construction methodologies
• Competency with estimating software platforms and standard business applications
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from architectural and mechanical construction documents
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking
• Excellent written and verbal communication with cross-functional team members
