Denver Public Schools seeks an experienced Manager, Facilities Area to direct operations and maintenance across approximately 30 school locations in Denver, Colorado. This full-time leadership position offers the opportunity to ensure safe, efficient learning environments across one of Colorado's largest school districts.
About the Role
As Manager, Facilities Area for DPS, you'll oversee day-to-day facility operations, coordinate maintenance activities, and lead teams responsible for keeping school buildings functioning safely and effectively. You'll work directly with school administrators, district leadership, and maintenance staff to support Denver Public Schools' educational mission through well-maintained, compliant facilities.
What You'll Do
- Direct operations and maintenance across approximately 30 assigned school buildings
- Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and respond to emergency repairs to minimize operational disruption
- Manage facility staffing, training, and performance accountability across your portfolio
- Develop and monitor budgets to allocate resources efficiently across multiple locations
- Conduct regular inspections to assess facility condition, identify maintenance needs, and address safety concerns
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building codes across all assigned properties
- Communicate facility status, improvement plans, and operational challenges to school and district leaders
- Implement strategies to optimize energy efficiency and extend the operational life of building systems
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale facilities operations or institutional building maintenance programs
- Strong leadership and team management experience
- Knowledge of building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance operations
- Proficiency with facility management budgeting and resource planning
- Solid understanding of health, safety, and building compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Experience managing multiple facilities with competing priorities
