Stake Center Locating
Stake Center Locating is seeking full-time Locate Technicians to join our team in Novi, Oakland County. As an entry-level Field Technician, you'll play a critical role in protecting Michigan's infrastructure by safely identifying and marking underground utilities before excavation work begins.
About the Role
As a Locate Technician, you'll work in the field to pinpoint and mark underground utilities using specialized locating equipment. Your work directly prevents costly damage to gas lines, electric lines, water mains, fiber optic cables, and other critical infrastructure. This is hands-on, outdoor work that keeps communities safe and helps businesses avoid expensive utility strikes.
What You'll Do
- Operate underground utility locating equipment to identify the precise location of buried utilities
- Mark utility locations using paint, flags, and stakes to clearly alert excavation crews
- Troubleshoot equipment and verify accuracy of marks in the field
- Communicate with contractors, excavators, and property owners about marked utilities
- Document locations and maintain accurate records of each job site
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment
- Travel to various job sites throughout Oakland County and the surrounding region
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent (entry-level candidates welcome)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced team members
- Physical ability to lift, bend, and work for extended periods in the field
- Reliable work ethic and professional attitude
