About the Role

This Lifeguard I (Part Time) position with the Municipality of Anchorage's Department of Parks & Recreation is based at Dimond Pool (2909 W. Dimond) in Anchorage, with service to Eagle River as well. The opening is open to the general public and to any current Municipal employee. The role is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is governed by the terms of the current agreement in effect between the Union and the Municipality of Anchorage. Work schedules vary across the week, with shifts falling between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Sunday.

Key Responsibilities

• Watch over swimmers and pool patrons to keep the aquatic environment safe at all times.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, performing rescues, first aid, and life-saving procedures as needed.
• Enforce facility rules and safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Support the daily operations of Dimond Pool and assist patrons with a welcoming, professional attitude.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free pool deck and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Strong swimming ability and comfort working in and around water.
• Willingness to obtain or hold current lifeguard, CPR, and first aid certifications appropriate to the role.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts scheduled any day of the week between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m.
• Dependability, attentiveness, and a commitment to public safety and customer service.
