Join Guidepost Montessori's teaching team as a Lead Toddler Teacher in Evanston, Illinois. This full-time position offers you the opportunity to guide young learners through developmentally appropriate Montessori experiences that build foundational skills and nurture a love of learning.
About the Role
As a Lead Toddler Teacher at Guidepost Montessori, you'll design and facilitate enriching classroom experiences for toddlers in our Evanston location. You'll prepare thoughtfully arranged learning environments that encourage self-directed activity, develop gross and fine motor skills, and foster language development. Working with Montessori principles, you'll observe each child's progress, adapt activities to individual developmental needs, and create a structured yet flexible routine that supports growing autonomy and confidence.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and maintain Montessori-aligned classroom spaces that invite exploration and independent work
- Introduce and guide toddlers through sensorial and practical life activities tailored to their developmental stage
- Observe children carefully to assess progress, inform lesson planning, and communicate growth to families
- Support language development through conversation, storytelling, songs, and music activities
- Model and teach care of self, care of environment, and respectful community behaviors
- Collaborate with families through regular updates, conferences, and partnership in the child's development
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment that reflects Montessori philosophy
What We're Looking For
- Montessori certification or credential (or willingness to pursue) for the toddler/infant age group
- Experience working with toddlers in an educational or childcare setting
- Deep understanding of early childhood development and Montessori pedagogy
- Patience, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm for supporting young children's growth
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner respectfully with families
- Ability to maintain composure in a dynamic, active environment
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in early childhood education
