Lead Engineer – Device Level Analytics

Generalmotors is seeking a Lead Engineer – Device Level Analytics to join our Bengaluru, Karnataka, India office in a full-time position. In this leadership role, you will architect and optimise analytics platforms that power device-level data insights, leading a team of engineers whilst driving technical excellence across our analytics infrastructure.

Position Summary

As Lead Engineer – Device Level Analytics at Generalmotors, you will take ownership of designing, building, and maintaining sophisticated analytics systems that process and analyse data at the device level. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll combine deep engineering expertise with the ability to guide and mentor a growing team. You'll work at scale to solve complex data challenges, influence architecture decisions, and shape the future of our analytics capabilities.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement scalable device-level analytics architectures that handle massive data volumes reliably
• Lead the technical strategy for data pipeline development, ensuring performance, quality, and maintainability
• Mentor and develop engineering team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
• Optimise data ingestion, transformation, and storage systems for accuracy and efficiency
• Establish best practices for code quality, testing, and operational reliability

Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a lead engineer or senior engineer with hands-on technical expertise in analytics, data platforms, or distributed systems
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, Scala, or Go
• Deep understanding of data engineering principles, stream processing, batch processing, and analytics databases
• Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring technical teams or managing complex engineering projects
• Knowledge of distributed systems, data architecture patterns, and scalability challenges
• Experience with analytics tooling, warehousing solutions, or real-time data platforms
• Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused mindset
