The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law is seeking a mission-driven Individual Giving Officer to join its development team in Washington, D.C. In this full-time role, you will help power one of the nation's foremost racial justice legal organizations by cultivating the individual donors who sustain its fight for equity and opportunity.
About the Role
As the Individual Giving Officer based in Washington, D.C., you will be responsible for growing and stewarding a portfolio of individual supporters whose generosity fuels the Lawyers' Committee's legal advocacy. This is an opportunity to connect passionate donors with meaningful work that advances civil rights both inside and outside the courtroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors to grow philanthropic revenue.
- Build authentic, lasting relationships with supporters who share a commitment to racial justice.
- Develop tailored engagement strategies and donor communications that reflect the organization's mission and impact.
- Partner with development colleagues and program staff to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities.
- Maintain accurate donor records and track progress toward giving goals.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in individual giving, major gifts, or frontline fundraising.
- Strong relationship-building, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A genuine commitment to civil rights, racial justice, and the mission of the Lawyers' Committee.
- Ability to manage a donor portfolio and work collaboratively within a development team.
- Willingness to work on-site in Washington, D.C.
