HVDC Station Engineer

Siemens Energy is seeking an experienced HVDC Station Engineer to join our operations team in Parlin, Middlesex County. In this full-time role, you'll operate and maintain critical transmission infrastructure that powers the regional grid.

About the Role

As an HVDC Station Engineer at Siemens Energy, you'll take on a pivotal position within our transmission operations center. You'll be tasked with overseeing the reliable performance of high-voltage direct current systems, including the Neptune Regional Transmission System and the Hudson Transmission Project, while ensuring strict adherence to PJM Interconnection requirements and NERC reliability standards.

What You'll Do

• Monitor real-time operating parameters and system performance across HVDC stations
• Control switchyard equipment, converter operations, and power flow routing
• Coordinate station maintenance and outage scheduling with transmission planning teams
• Respond to grid disturbances and implement corrective measures
• Document operations and maintain detailed station logs
• Collaborate with regional transmission operators and system planners
• Maintain compliance with PJM procedures, NERC Standards, and internal operating manuals

What We're Looking For

• Knowledge of HVDC transmission technology and station operations
• Familiarity with NERC Standards, PJM operating agreements, and grid reliability principles
• Strong technical foundation in electrical systems and power flow analysis
• Ability to work rotating shifts and respond to emergencies
• Excellent communication and decision-making skills under pressure
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
