General Superintendent (New England Region)

Burns & McDonnell is hiring a General Superintendent (New England Region) to lead on-site construction operations in Watertown, Middlesex County. This full-time position directs daily field activities, oversees multiple construction disciplines, and ensures all work meets contractual standards, schedules, and safety requirements.

About the Role

The General Superintendent manages comprehensive on-site operations, coordinating all construction activities across a multi-disciplinary team. You'll supervise electrical, mechanical, civil, instrumentation and controls, and general construction trades—ensuring contractual completion, regulatory compliance, and adherence to project schedules and budgets. This role requires both strategic oversight and hands-on field leadership.

What You'll Do

• Direct all on-site construction operations and administrative functions across the project
• Supervise and coordinate trade superintendents and contractors to ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled
• Develop and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions
• Manage field resources, equipment, materials, and workforce allocation
• Establish and enforce safety protocols, conduct site inspections, and ensure OSHA and regulatory compliance
• Maintain detailed project documentation, logs, reports, and quality records
• Control project costs and work with management to monitor budgets
• Identify and resolve field challenges promptly to keep projects moving forward

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience as a General Superintendent or equivalent on-site construction leadership position
• Proven expertise managing multi-disciplinary construction projects (electrical, mechanical, civil, instrumentation)
• Strong knowledge of safety management, OSHA standards, and construction regulations
• Excellent communication, organization, and team leadership capabilities
• Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, budgets, and cost controls effectively
• Proficiency with construction documentation, scheduling tools, and project management software
• Valid driver's license with willingness to travel throughout New England
