The Experienced Yard Jockey/Shunter at Cswg manages the constant flow of trailers across the Windsor Locks property so docks stay productive and equipment returns ready for the next assignment. You will rely on specialized yard hostlers, constant radio contact, and a clear mental map of the lot to reposition assets quickly while protecting people, freight, and vehicles at every turn.

What You'll Do

• Drive yard tractors and hostlers to relocate trailers between docks, staging lanes, and parking rows
• Spot and drop trialers with exact alignment so warehouse teams can begin loading or unloading without delay
• Inspect hostlers, lights, brakes, and coupling gear before each move and flag any defects immediately
• Stay in continuous contact with dispatch and dock supervisors to reorder priorities as schedules shift
• Couple and uncouple trailers safely, confirming kingpin engagement and trailer support before travel
• Stage empty and loaded equipment in designated zones so the yard remains organized and free of bottlenecks
• Follow posted traffic routes, speed limits, and lock-out procedures to keep every shift incident-free

Skills & Qualifications

• Hands-on background as an Experienced Yard Jockey/Shunter or equivalent trailer-moving role
• Confident control of yard hostlers and terminal tractors under tight space and time constraints
• Solid grasp of yard layout patterns, traffic control, and trailer checking routines
• Sharp situational awareness that spots hazards and prevents collisions or damage
• Clear radio and face-to-face communication skills for seamless work with drivers and warehouse staff
• Willingness to perform outdoor duties in the weather conditions typical of the Windsor Locks area
• Reliable adherence to all company safety rules, inspection checklists, and site protocols
