Engineering Manager, Customer Experience

Whatnot, the largest livestream shopping platform in North America and Europe, is hiring an Engineering Manager, Customer Experience at our Grand Central, Manhattan headquarters. As EM for Customer Experience, you'll lead the engineering team and strategy that shapes how millions of buyers and sellers discover, connect, and transact on the platform every day.

About the Role

You'll own the technical vision and execution for customer-facing product initiatives across the entire buyer journey. This is a full-time, on-site role at our Manhattan office where you'll drive innovation in live commerce engineering, build and mentor your team, and collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and operations to scale Whatnot's competitive advantage in a category we're pioneering.

What You'll Do

• Lead a team of engineers building and improving core customer-facing features, platform discovery, and engagement systems
• Partner with product and design to translate customer needs and market opportunities into technical roadmaps and implementations
• Set and drive technical strategy for customer experience infrastructure as the platform scales across categories and geographies
• Mentor and grow engineers, establish technical standards, and build a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
• Work cross-functionally with seller experience, trust and safety, and business teams to ship customer value
• Make data-driven decisions on prioritization and technical investment; measure and communicate impact through metrics

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in engineering management or technical leadership
• Proven track record shipping customer-facing products and successfully scaling teams
• Strong communication and influencing skills; ability to align stakeholders across product, design, and operations
• Passion for customer experience and metrics-driven decision making; preference for shipping impact over perfection
• Comfort working in fast-moving, high-ambiguity environments where you help set the playbook
• Experience with e-commerce, marketplaces, creator platforms, or live commerce is a plus
