Engineering Manager

Gilbane, Inc. is recruiting an Engineering Manager to lead technical operations on construction management projects at our Crestwood, Houston office. This full-time position offers the opportunity to guide engineering teams and collaborate closely with project leadership to deliver complex building initiatives.

What This Role Involves

As an Engineering Manager, you'll partner with the Project Manager to oversee all engineering disciplines, systems, and technical performance on active construction projects. This leadership role demands both deep technical knowledge and strong interpersonal skills to coordinate engineering teams, manage stakeholder communication, and ensure projects stay aligned with design intent and budget. You'll tackle multifaceted challenges in a collaborative environment where technical expertise and clear communication directly impact project success.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate engineering personnel across disciplines on construction management projects
• Perform technical engineering duties while managing team performance and development
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to monitor project progress, identify engineering risks, and implement solutions
• Review construction documents, RFIs, and submittals to ensure compliance with design specifications
• Lead coordination meetings between engineering, construction, and design teams
• Track budgets and schedules as they relate to engineering scope and deliverables
• Maintain detailed project documentation and reporting standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
• 5+ years of experience in construction management or project engineering
• Strong technical foundation with demonstrated expertise in engineering principles and building systems
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and communicate effectively across diverse teams
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
• Experience managing complex construction projects
• Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office suite
