Columbia College
We're seeking a Development Manager to join Columbia College's institutional advancement team in Lincolnshire, Richland County. This full-time position builds and strengthens partnerships with corporations, foundations, and institutional funders to support the college's mission, academic programs, student scholarships, and long-term growth priorities.
About the Role
As Development Manager, you'll lead corporate and foundation relationship management initiatives that directly advance Columbia College's strategic mission. Your work bridges the college's academic vision with external funding partners, creating partnerships that transform educational opportunity and student outcomes across our community.
What You'll Do
- Manage an assigned portfolio of corporate and foundation funding prospects, identifying cultivation opportunities and stewarding relationships over time
- Develop compelling grant proposals, organizational profiles, and funding requests tailored to each prospective partner's priorities and giving guidelines
- Research and identify new corporate and institutional funding sources aligned with the college's strategic priorities and existing program needs
- Coordinate donor engagement activities, campus visits, and program presentations that deepen funder understanding and investment
- Partner with academic departments, administrative offices, and college leadership to ensure alignment on funding priorities and grant outcomes
- Track funding pipeline, manage donor records, and prepare reporting on relationship progress and revenue generation
- Represent Columbia College at regional nonprofit and education networks to expand funding visibility and partnership opportunities
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in development, grant writing, corporate relations, or institutional fundraising
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences
- Ability to research foundation and corporate giving programs and identify prospect fit strategically
- Proficiency with database management and ability to track relationships, activities, and outcomes systematically
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience in development or fundraising roles
- Ability to manage multiple relationships and proposals concurrently while meeting deadlines
