Guidehouse seeks a Defense Accountability Consultant to join our operations consulting team at our Fort Myer office in Arlington County. This full-time position supports Department of Defense clients seeking to strengthen their operational structures, improve performance outcomes, and enhance accountability frameworks across major programs.
What You'll Do
- Partner with DoD leadership to assess operational effectiveness, identify performance gaps, and develop evidence-based improvement strategies
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of organizational processes, internal controls, and governance structures within defense environments
- Design and recommend accountability mechanisms that align with federal requirements and drive measurable operational improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions that optimize efficiency, strengthen oversight, and support mission delivery
- Prepare detailed findings, strategic recommendations, and implementation roadmaps for senior defense officials
- Travel up to 25% to support client engagements, facilitate stakeholder meetings, and oversee on-site consulting activities
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, public policy, operations management, or related discipline
- 3+ years of consulting experience, preferably supporting government agencies or in operational improvement roles
- Ability to obtain or pursue a Secret security clearance
- Demonstrated expertise in process analysis, organizational design, and performance management
- Strong research, analytical, and technical writing capabilities with ability to communicate complex ideas clearly
- Experience with DoD, federal agencies, or regulated industry environments strongly preferred
- Willingness to travel and adapt to client-driven schedules
