NES-A CTE Teacher

About the Role

This is a 10-month teaching position with Houston Independent School District's New Education System program. You'll design and deliver rigorous career and technical education instruction that combines real-world relevance with academic excellence, helping students discover pathways to post-secondary success in fields where their talents create impact.

What You'll Do

• Develop and teach CTE curriculum aligned to industry standards and student learning objectives
• Create engaging classroom experiences that connect technical skills to academic content and career applications
• Assess student progress and adjust instruction to support mastery and individual learning needs
• Build partnerships with local employers and community organizations to strengthen career exploration and internship opportunities
• Mentor students through career planning and preparation for certifications, apprenticeships, or post-secondary training
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate CTE content across disciplines and enhance school-wide student achievement
• Maintain a classroom environment that fosters respect, accountability, and active learning

What We're Looking For

• Valid Texas teaching certification in your CTE field (or eligible for expedited certification)
• Demonstrated expertise and experience in your career and technical specialty
• Commitment to student-centered, equity-focused education
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to develop curriculum and assessments that meet both technical and academic standards
• Passion for helping students succeed and reach their potential
