About the Role
As a Commercial Kitchen Service Technician with Houston Independent School District, you will service, repair, and install commercial kitchen equipment across district facilities. The position sits within the Food Services Administration's Nutrition Service Maintenance team (North area) and is a 12-month contract for the 2026–2027 academic year. This is a full-time, on-site role in the US, with a posted salary range of $38,688.00 to $63,856.00.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of commercial kitchen equipment used in district food service operations.
- Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and keep equipment operating safely.
- Install new kitchen equipment and verify proper setup at school sites throughout the district.
- Respond to service requests across campuses, traveling to locations as assigned within the North area.
- Document service work and help ensure equipment meets operational and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial kitchen or food service equipment.
- Working knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems found in commercial kitchens.
- Ability to work independently, manage service calls across multiple sites, and travel between district locations.
- Commitment to safety, reliability, and supporting school nutrition operations.
