US Foods is seeking a CDL A Delivery Driver for its Island Lake, Lake County location to join the Transportation & Logistics team supporting Food & Beverage Operations.

About the Role

This full‑time position involves operating a Class A commercial vehicle to transport a variety of foodservice products to restaurants, cafeterias, and other food‑service establishments. You will be responsible for ensuring that every delivery is accurate, timely, and completed with the highest level of customer service while adhering to all federal and state safety regulations.

What You'll Do

  • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of the tractor‑trailer to verify mechanical soundness and DOT compliance.
  • Load and unload foodservice items using appropriate equipment, securing loads to prevent shifting during transit.
  • Plan and follow efficient routes to meet delivery windows, adjusting for traffic, weather, or customer‑specific requirements.
  • Verify order accuracy by checking packing slips, obtaining signatures, and processing any returns or discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate logs of mileage, fuel usage, and hours of service in accordance with company policy and federal regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with dispatch and warehouse personnel to provide updates on delivery status and any issues encountered.
  • Provide courteous, professional service to customers, representing US Foods positively at every stop.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and report any maintenance needs promptly to the shop.

What We're Looking For

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL A) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of one year of experience driving a tractor‑trailer in a delivery or distribution environment.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly, and occasionally heavier items with team lift or equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail for load securement, paperwork, and inventory accuracy.
  • Excellent time‑management skills and the ability to work independently while staying connected to the team.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and a proactive attitude toward hazard identification.
  • Basic math skills for verifying quantities and completing delivery documentation.
