Build the skills for this role
Useful focus areas include live event operations, camera/tracking hardware basics, troubleshooting under time pressure, and clear radio/comms with match officials. No certification list was supplied for this role.
Be ready to walk through high-stakes ops: pre-match checks, failure modes mid-game, and how you escalate or recover when a feed drops. Expect practical questions on rugby match flow, multi-camera awareness, and calm coordination with referees and production.
Strong fit if you enjoy live sports technology, precise procedures, and on-site work around Newcastle rather than remote desk work. Experience with broadcast, stadium systems, or officiating tech is more relevant here than pure software development.
