Join Bob's Super-Saver Country Mart in Emporia as a Part-Time Produce Clerk and help our community access fresh, quality fruits and vegetables. In this hands-on position, you'll maintain our produce section while developing valuable retail and food service experience.
About the Role
As a Produce Clerk at our Emporia location, you'll combine produce department operations with point-of-sale duties to deliver an excellent shopping experience. This part-time role offers flexible scheduling while giving you meaningful work in a community-focused grocery setting.
What You'll Do
- Receive, arrange, and display fresh produce to create an inviting, well-stocked department
- Stock shelves and replenish inventory throughout your shift
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces, equipment, and storage areas to maintain food safety standards
- Store produce in designated containers at proper temperatures for optimal freshness
- Operate the cash register and process customer transactions weekly
- Assist customers with product selection and answer questions about produce quality
- Monitor produce quality and remove items that no longer meet standards
- Rotate stock using FIFO (first in, first out) methods to minimize waste
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety
- Friendly, helpful demeanor with customers and coworkers
- Willingness to learn cash handling and grocery retail operations
- Physical ability to work in a temperature-controlled environment
