Responsibilities

  • Debug audio chain circuits, including codecs, embedded DSPs, headphone amps, speaker amps, and microphones, as well as related external circuits like PMICs and converters.
  • Achieve electrical performance targets by employing data-driven design approaches, ensuring optimal system performance.
  • Perform the validation and testing of audio circuit performance and the full audio system, covering rendering, capture, power consumption, and algorithm tuning.
  • Design, specify, and implement product factory tests for audio system validation.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external hardware teams (System EE, Power/Battery) and software teams, focusing on audio system bring-up and debugging.
  • Provide cross-functional leadership in audio system design to enhance and optimize audio quality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Acoustics or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in audio system design with a strong impact on cross-functional teams and leadership in audio quality improvement.
  • Expertise in designing and debugging analog and digital circuits.
  • Proficiency in product development tools such as SPICE simulation, Audio Precision, Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, and schematic capture and PCB layout tools like OrCAD or Cadence.
  • Proven experience with PCBA and product-level failure modes in both production and field settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • Experience designing circuits for the audio chain, including codecs, DSPs, and power supplies.
  • Knowledge in transducer design and developing acoustic tests for laboratory and factory environments.
  • Familiarity with Android and Qualcomm audio debugging tools, including adb, QXDM, QACT, and AudioReach.
  • Understanding of transistor-level IC design and the silicon manufacturing process.
  • Experience in audio speech quality testing and optimization using tools like B&K or ACQUA.
  • Experience with coexistence testing for audio within a full product (as victim or aggressor)
