Mississippi Valley State University Portal is hiring a full-time Assistant Professor in the Education Department to join our faculty in Mississippi. This is a tenure-track, nine-month position focused on undergraduate and graduate instruction in Education with an emphasis on Special Education or a closely related field.
About the Role
You'll serve as a dedicated faculty member within our Education Department, balancing teaching, research, and institutional service. This tenure-track appointment offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our academic community while advancing your scholarly work and professional development in the field of education.
What You'll Do
- Teach 12 credit hours per semester, delivering courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels
- Develop and refine curriculum that reflects current best practices in education and Special Education
- Mentor and advise student majors and graduate students in your area of expertise
- Engage in scholarly research and publication that advances the field
- Participate in departmental committees and university service initiatives
- Contribute to the Education Department's overall mission and accreditation goals
What We're Looking For
- Earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) in Education, Special Education, or a closely related field
- Teaching experience at the higher education level, or demonstrated readiness to excel in an academic setting
- Specialized knowledge, certification, or endorsement in Special Education or a related education specialty
- Strong commitment to student success and inclusive teaching practices
- Capacity for scholarly research, publication, and professional engagement
- Ability to work collaboratively within a department and broader institutional context
