The Corpus Christi Independent School District is seeking an Assistant Operations Supervisor to support transportation operations across its US‑based school bus network.
About the Role
This full‑time position works within the district’s transportation department to help oversee daily bus operations, ensure safety compliance, and assist in managing drivers and support staff.
What You'll Do
- Assist the Operations Supervisor in planning and coordinating school bus routes and schedules.
- Monitor driver performance and ensure adherence to district policies, state regulations, and federal safety standards.
- Support the recruitment, training, and certification of school bus drivers, including verification of CDL endorsements.
- Conduct routine inspections of buses and facilities to identify maintenance needs and coordinate repairs.
- Respond to incidents, accidents, or emergencies, documenting details and initiating follow‑up actions.
- Maintain records related to driver hours, vehicle mileage, and compliance reporting.
- Collaborate with school administrators, parents, and community partners to address transportation concerns.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and safety.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License with passenger, air‑brake, S, and TEA School Bus Driver endorsements, or the ability to obtain them within the first 12 months of employment.
- Strong understanding of school transportation safety regulations and best practices.
- Experience supervising or coordinating drivers, fleets, or logistics operations is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications for scheduling, reporting, and record‑keeping.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving aptitude and a commitment to student safety.
