Aquatics – Water Fitness Instructor

Join the Young Mens Christian Association Of Southwestern Indiana as a Water Fitness Instructor and lead dynamic aquatics programs that improve health and wellness for our Evansville community members. This part-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through fitness instruction, water safety education, and community building at one of the region's premier wellness organizations.

About the Role

As a Water Fitness Instructor with the YMCA, you'll teach engaging water-based fitness classes that serve members of all ages and fitness backgrounds. You'll combine your expertise in aquatic exercise with your passion for health and wellness to create safe, inclusive, and motivating class experiences that help participants achieve their fitness goals and stay active.

What You'll Do

• Lead water aerobics, water fitness, and aquatic exercise classes aligned with industry safety and training standards
• Teach proper water fitness techniques and form to prevent injury and maximize results
• Educate patrons on water safety, drowning prevention, and aquatic best practices
• Maintain safe aquatic facility conditions and properly manage equipment
• Assess participant fitness levels and adapt exercises for varying abilities and needs
• Build positive relationships with members and promote participation in YMCA wellness initiatives
• Gather member feedback and contribute to improvements in aquatics programming

What We're Looking For

• Lifeguard certification (current or ability to obtain)
• Water safety and CPR/AED certification
• Documented experience teaching water fitness or aquatic exercise classes
• Strong working knowledge of fitness principles and aquatic training techniques
• Excellent verbal communication and personal motivation skills
• Physical capability to demonstrate exercises and work comfortably in aquatic environments
• Alignment with the YMCA's mission to strengthen community through fitness and social responsibility
