About This Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Attendant to join our team at Elmo SPCA in Whanganui. As a casual role, you will be required to assist with the care of animals on an as-needed basis. The position is demanding but incredibly rewarding, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of animals.

What You'll Do

• Care for and provide basic needs for a variety of animals including cleaning enclosures, feeding, and ensuring their hygiene and comfort.
• Assist with animal health care, such as administering medications and monitoring health conditions under the supervision of our veterinary team.
• Support in managing and maintaining the cleanliness of our facilities to ensure a safe environment for both animals and visitors.
• Interact with potential adopters and provide information about the animals available for adoption, fostering positive relationships between the community and our organization.

Skills & Qualifications

• A genuine passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing compassionate care.
• Basic knowledge of animal behavior and health care is advantageous but not required, as training will be provided.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends when needed.
