Contracted Faculty of Practice (Adjunct): Biology

Position Summary

As an adjunct biology faculty member at Concordia University, St. Paul, you'll contribute to a collaborative academic environment where teaching excellence and student engagement are central to our mission. Working alongside full-time and part-time colleagues, you'll design and deliver high-quality courses that inspire students to develop critical thinking and deeper scientific understanding. Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Instruct biology courses and labs with clear learning objectives and engaging teaching methods
• Grade assignments, examinations, and other student work with constructive, timely feedback
• Hold regular office hours to support student learning and address questions
• Develop or refine course materials, syllabi, and learning activities aligned with program standards
• Collaborate with colleagues in the biology and broader sciences departments
• Attend department meetings and contribute to program initiatives as scheduled
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and course activities

Requirements

• Advanced expertise in biology or a closely related discipline
• Demonstrated experience teaching biology at the undergraduate level or equivalent professional background
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse student populations
• Ability to design meaningful learning experiences and assess student comprehension
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, engaging classroom environment
• Flexibility to teach assigned courses at times determined by the University
