Looking for a hands-on career in public infrastructure? The Board of County Commissioners is hiring a full-time Roadside Ditch Maintenance & Excavation Skilled Trades Worker to help keep stormwater systems flowing across our communities in the US.
About the Role
Joining our Stormwater Department, you'll spend your days outdoors maintaining, building, and repairing the drainage networks and road right-of-way infrastructure that protect local roads and neighborhoods from flooding. This is a skilled trades position for someone who takes genuine pride in fixing things and seeing the results of their work. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of roadside ditches and stormwater conveyance systems.
- Carry out excavation work to construct, clear, and restore drainage channels and culverts.
- Repair and rebuild stormwater infrastructure within the road right-of-way.
- Operate hand tools and equipment safely in outdoor and field conditions.
- Support construction projects that improve county drainage and roadway infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Genuine enjoyment of outdoor, physical, hands-on work in varied weather conditions.
- Skilled-trades aptitude in maintenance, repair, and construction tasks.
- Reliability and a strong sense of ownership over the quality of completed work.
- Ability to operate excavation and maintenance equipment, or willingness to be trained.
- A collaborative, dependable approach to working as part of a field crew.
