Public Safety Dispatcher

UPMC is seeking a dependable Public Safety Dispatcher to join the team at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County. In this full-time, on-site role, you'll serve as a critical communications link that keeps patients, staff, and visitors safe.

About the Role

As a Public Safety Dispatcher with UPMC, you will coordinate emergency and routine communications for the hospital's public safety operations. This is an on-site position in Pittsburgh, scheduled according to hospital needs on a daylight shift running from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, prioritize, and relay incoming calls and requests for public safety assistance across the hospital campus.
• Dispatch security and public safety personnel promptly to incidents, alarms, and emergencies.
• Monitor surveillance, alarm, and communication systems to support a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain clear, accurate records and logs of calls, dispatches, and incidents.
• Communicate calmly and effectively with hospital staff, responders, and the public during high-pressure situations.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to stay composed during emergencies.
• Capacity to handle multiple calls and tasks simultaneously while prioritizing effectively.
• Comfort working with dispatch, alarm, and communication technology.
• Reliability and flexibility to work a daylight shift (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) scheduled based on hospital needs.
