The Opportunity

Since its founding in 2010, Challenge Preparatory Charter School (Challenge Prep) has provided students and families with a successful academic program in Far Rockaway, Queens. Currently serving over 1200 scholars from Kindergarten to 12th grade across three sites, our mission is to prepare students for academic success, mastery of the NY State Learning Standards, and career aspirations. We cultivate and support the intellectual, aesthetic, social, emotional, and ethical development of our students, preparing them to be responsible 21st century citizens.

Our rigorous instructional program includes a safe, supportive environment with technology integration and data enrichment. Authentic field experiences, career counseling, and college coursework are integral parts of our curriculum. We seek educators who share the life experiences of our students, ensuring that our work is grounded in the realities and experiences of our families and scholars.

Core Duties

• Deliver exceptional instruction to 5th grade special education students
• Support the intellectual, aesthetic, social, emotional, and ethical development of students
• Collaborate with the instructional team to support all scholars across multiple sites
• Ensure that students have access to opportunities for academic success and career aspirations
• Advocate passionately for students and their families

What We're Looking For

We are seeking dedicated 5th grade special education teachers with a passion for making a difference in the lives of our scholars. Ideal candidates will have:

• A valid New York State teaching certification or eligibility to obtain one
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities
• Strong classroom management and instructional skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• A commitment to social-emotional learning and student-centered instruction
