Job Overview

The Team Lead – MSP Implementation & Presales is a senior technical leadership role focused on leading end-to-end technical implementations and providing presales support to drive business growth. The role involves working closely with sales, account management, and engineering teams to oversee solution design, client onboarding, and project delivery across cloud, cybersecurity, networking, and modern workplace technologies. Additionally, the position provides escalation-level oversight to the MSP support function, ensuring high service standards and SLA compliance.

Key Responsibilities

1.Technical Implementation & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end technical implementations for new and existing MSP clients across Client’s full service portfolio.
  • Own Modern Workplace deployments: Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint.
  • Drive Cloud & Infrastructure implementations: Azure Landing Zones, virtual networks, Azure Backup, AWS, and Google Cloud workloads.
  • Execute Cybersecurity deployments: Sophos, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender suite, SIEM onboarding, and endpoint protection rollouts.
  • Deliver Networking implementations: LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, switching, routing, and firewall configuration (Fortinet, Sophos, Palo Alto, Cisco).
  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and to Client’s quality standards.

2.Presales & Solution Design

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for the sales team — owning solution design, scoping, and proposal development.
  • Conduct technical discovery sessions with prospective clients to identify requirements and map to Client’s service offerings.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), effort estimates, technical architecture diagrams, and solution proposals.
  • Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) engagements and technical presentations to clients and prospects.
  • Review RFPs and tenders, providing accurate technical responses and costing inputs.
  • Act as the technical bridge between sales and delivery to ensure solutions are accurately scoped, priced, and deliverable.

3. Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of implementation engineers and support specialists.
  • Conduct regular 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and technical skills assessments.
  • Build upskilling plans aligned to Client’s vendor partnerships and service pillars.
  • Provide escalation-level support oversight, ensuring the team meets SLA commitments without requiring day-to-day involvement.
  • Manage resource allocation across implementation projects and support queues.

4.Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a senior technical point of contact for key MSP and implementation clients.
  • Participate in client service review meetings, project kick-offs, and quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
  • Proactively identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities and communicate these to the Account Management team.
  • Ensure a high-quality, professional client experience across all implementation and presales engagements.

5.Process & Documentation

  • Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge base articles for implementation workflows.
  • Ensure all client environments and project deliverables are documented in Client’s PSA/ITSM toolsets.
  • Champion automation and scripting to streamline implementation and support workflows.
  • Drive continuous improvement across delivery processes using ITIL best practices

6.Security & Compliance

  • Ensure all implementations and managed environments align with Client’s ISO 27001 ISMS framework.
  • Enforce endpoint security, patch management, and vulnerability management standards across client environments.
  • Oversee firewall policy reviews, VPN management, and network security hygiene for managed clients.
  • Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and BCP configurations are maintained and tested across the client base.
  • Support VAPT coordination and remediation tracking for applicable client engagements

Required Qualifications & Experience

1.Experience

  • 5–8 years of hands-on experience in an MSP, IT services, or systems integration environment.
  • Minimum 2 years in a senior technical, implementation lead, or presales engineer capacity.
  • Proven track record of leading technical implementations across cloud, cybersecurity, and networking solutions.
  • Demonstrated presales experience — solution scoping, proposal writing, BOMs, and client presentations.
  • Broad multi-vendor exposure: Microsoft, Sophos, Fortinet, Palo Alto, CrowdStrike, AWS, or Google Cloud.

2.Technical Skills

  • Modern Workplace: Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID).
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS, Azure Backup, Azure Monitor), AWS, Google Cloud Platform — fundamentals and administration.
  • Cybersecurity: Sophos (Endpoint, Firewall, MDR), Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager), Palo Alto Networks (PAN-OS, Panorama), CrowdStrike Falcon, Microsoft Defender suite (Endpoint, Identity,Office 365).
  • Networking: TCP/IP, VLANs, SD-WAN, VPN (IPSec/SSL), routing & switching, firewall policy management.
  • Server & Infrastructure: Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Linux (Ubuntu/RHEL/CentOS), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Hyper-V / VMware.
  • Backup & DR: Veeam, Azure Backup, Acronis, or equivalent enterprise backup solutions.
  • PSA/ITSM tools: Zoho Desk, ConnectWise, Autotask, Freshservice, or equivalent.
  • RMM tools: N-central, ConnectWise Automate, NinjaRMM, or equivalent.
  • Scripting & Automation: PowerShell (essential), Bash or Python as a plus

3.Soft Skills
